Trump lays out next moves after Canada’s retaliatory tariffs take effect

By GhanaSummary NewsroomEgypt

Early Tuesday morning, Canada made good on its promise to impose tariffs on $20 billion worth of American goods in retaliation for the Canadian goods President Donald Trump began taxing last month.

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the deal fell apart because of last-minute requests Canadian trade officials made, including tariff relief for trucks.

The US currently imposes a 25 percent duty on those vehicles, with exemptions for the portion of each vehicle that complies with the trilateral trade agreement between the US, Canada and Mexico that Trump brokered during his first term.
