TRC Cases Inquiry hears lack of political will hindered prosecutions

By GhanaSummary NewsroomSouth Africa

While some of the blame for the dismal record of investigating and prosecuting TRC cases can be attributed to the NPA, there must be acknowledgement of the greater role played by a lack of political will and interference.

This was the testimony delivered at the TRC Cases Inquiry in Newtown, Johannesburg, by long-time member of the NPA’s Priority Crimes Litigation Unit (PCLU) Dr Jacobus Pretorious.

Pretorious served as a member of the NPA’s Priority Crimes Litigation Unit and served as its member since its inception in 2003 till his retirement in 2022.
