Tension as Lagos Council defies NLC directive not to attend Inauguration of Pro-Tinubu Group

…Queries state chairman…WoPU berates Congress stance on freedom of association By Victor Ahiuma-Young LAGOS — Tension is mounting within the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, over the inauguration of the Lagos State chapter of Working People United, WoPU, a pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu support group, following a directive by the national leadership of the Congress asking its affiliate unions not to attend the event.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Lagos chapter, the National Coordinator General of WoPU, Prince Williams Akporeha, described Lagos as a critical political and economic centre and urged members of the organisation to take the campaign for the Renewed Hope Agenda to wards, polling units and communities across the state.

Akporeha said the inauguration marked “another historic milestone” for WoPU, describing the organisation as a national grassroots civic and political movement established to give working people a stronger voice in governance and public affairs.
