PREMIUM TIMES asked the federal coordinating centre whether Mussa Central Primary School and Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, were registered, mapped, verified or otherwise captured under the National Safe Schools programme.

Interviews with parents, community leaders and the local education authority, together with parliamentary and government records reviewed by PREMIUM TIMES, did not establish what measures were implemented at Government Day Secondary School, Lassa, following the May assessment.

Mrs Askira, who was reportedly part of the government delegation that ed Lassa, told PREMIUM TIMES in an interview on 19 August that the Safe Schools programme was not operating in schools in the affected area.
