Spaza shops warned against unlawful card payment surcharges: NCC

Section 23 of the Consumer Protection Act stipulates that suppliers are strictly bound to honour the displayed price of a product.

And we are saying it’s about time that we reach out to these businesses, their formal structures, informal structures, reach out to them, nudge them into compliance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act and other laws of the Republic.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has cautioned spaza shop owners against adding hidden charges when customers use cards to pay.
