Ruto orders Tata Chemicals to end operations in Kenya

In late ​July, Tata had said that Kenya’s government had ordered unit Tata Chemical ​Limited to suspend its operations at the Magadi Soda ⁠factory and suspended any exports of soda ash.

Kenya’s President William Ruto says he has ordered India’s ​Tata Chemicals, to stop its operations in Kenya, saying ‌its presence has failed to benefit the country.

Tata Chemicals said ​in a statement Thursday that it respects the authority of the ​government of Kenya and remained committed to “constructive engagement through the appropriate legal and regulatory channels to resolve the outstanding matters.
