Residents in Taung continue to experience prolonged water shortages

The authorities have blamed this on contaminated boreholes, as Pitso Seepamere of the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality elaborates, “The existing boreholes, water is contaminated.” However, according to a community leader, Keaobaka Segonyane, the district municipality has repeatedly failed to complete the refurbishment of a water plant, that was supposed to resolve their problem.

The Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality, which is the water service authority, has committed that residents will get water by the end of this month after the completion of water augmentation project.
