Mr Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru Ngotho, the MP-elect for Ol Kalou, was former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua’s a protocol officer and political adviser before he and hundreds of his colleagues were sent home following the impeachment of the former in October 2024.

Photo credit: Boniface Mwangi | Nation After the defeat in 2017, Mr Ngotho went underground until the 2022 General Election, when he contested the Ol Kalou parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket but lost to Mr Kiarahao.

Mr Ngotho, who is set to succeed Mr David Kiarahao once he is sworn in, bagged the seat after garnering 35,440 votes against his main competitor, Samuel Muchina Nyagah of President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA), who managed a paltry 5,460 votes.
