In a decision affecting access to county procurement, expenditure and project records, the judges held that election to the Senate does not extinguish a senator's constitutional right to information.

The judges held that while senators cannot claim an independent constitutional oversight mandate outside the Senate, they retain the same right as every citizen to seek information under Article 35 of the Constitution.

A three-judge bench ruled that senators and MCAs may personally access information on county procurement, expenditure and projects as citizens, even though constitutional oversight of county governments is exercised through the Senate as an institution.
