Police constable faces corruption charges

This follows the arrest of a 25-year-old constable attached to Mitchells Plain Police by members of the Western Cape Anti-Corruption Unit on Wednesday, 5 August, for corruption, kidnapping and intimidation.

A Western Cape police constable is expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate’s Court on charges of corruption, kidnapping and intimidation.

The arrests follow an investigation by the Western Cape Anti-Corruption Unit into allegations that the two officers demanded money from a family in exchange for the release of a man arrested during a search operation in Mitchells Plain.
