Osun NURTW Crisis: ALGON appoints caretaker committees for transport unions

…Names Oyewale to head NURTW caretaker committee By Shina Abubakar, Osogbo The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Osun State chapter, has constituted caretaker management committees to oversee the affairs of transport unions across the state following the leadership crisis in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

Earlier, ALGON had suspended the activities of transport unions in public motor parks across the state and directed security agencies to take over the facilities following the outbreak of violence arising from the leadership dispute within the NURTW.

The ALGON chairman also appealed to transport operators, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to cooperate with the caretaker committees to ensure the smooth operation of motor parks in the 30 local government areas and the Ife East Area Office, Modakeke.
