NPFL: Decade later, Lagos derby returns as Inter Lagos, Sporting Lagos battle for bragging rights
After 10 years without a Lagos derby in the top flight, the city finally has one again, and with both Inter Lagos and Sporting Lagos still searching for their first point and first goal, there could hardly be a better setting for a new rivalry to announce itself.
Sporting Lagos were originally scheduled to face fellow Lagos side Ikorodu City in Matchday Two (which would have been the first Lagos derby in the top flight in 10 years).
Inter Lagos and Sporting Lagos are both searching for their first points and goals of the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, making the derby an early opportunity for one side to get its campaign moving finally.
