Lagos court jails 67-year-old lawyer for environmental offences
By Olasunkanmi Akoni A Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court has sentenced a 67-year-old lawyer, Taiwo Abidemi, to seven months’ imprisonment for violating the state’s environmental laws.
According to a statement by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Lagos State Special Offences (Mobile) Court, Jide Ajibola, the offences were committed on Thursday, July 9, 2026, along Guinness Road in the Agege area of Lagos.
Environmental protection is a collective responsibility, and the court will not hesitate to convict anyone who undermines public health and safety in the state,” the magistrate said.
