“The Kenyan Government assures its citizens that it continues advance strategic trade measures, including Government-to-Government (G-to-G) fuel import framework with major international oil producers, notably Saudi Arabia, to safeguard the country against oil supply disruptions and sharp increases in petroleum prices arising from the Middle East conflict, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the evolving crisis at the Red Sea,” he added.“Against the backdrop of ongoing Middle East crisis, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, these new attacks and the threat to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait could worsen the already dire situation by disrupting supply chains, particularly for oil and fertiliser, constrain international trade, and drive-up maritime insurance and freight costs.

According to the government, the framework is intended to protect the country from sharp increases in petroleum prices arising from the Middle East conflict, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the evolving crisis in the Red Sea.
