Kano launches second round of free tetanus vaccination for women

By Hadiza Yusuf The Kano State Government has flagged off the second round of the Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus Elimination (MNTE) campaign, urging women aged 15 to 49 years to take advantage of the free tetanus vaccination.

Yusuf disclosed that during the first phase of the campaign, conducted in May 2026 across 18 high-risk local government areas, the state targeted 1,388,396 women and vaccinated 1,339,871, representing a 96.

According to him, the second round will focus on the same 18 high-risk local government areas, with special attention given to previously unreached settlements as well as underserved and hard-to-reach communities.
