Ivory Coast’s ‘talking drum’ returns to home village after 110 years

A sacred ‘talking drum’ looted by French troops in 1916 has been returned to its home village in Ivory Coast after more than a century.

The Djidji Ayokwe, which the Ebrie community used to transmit messages and warn of danger, was officially returned by France in February.
