With just over a month before South Africans head to the polls on 4 November 2026, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) will on Monday allocate Political Election Broadcast slots – a decisive step to guarantee equitable access to the airwaves in what is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely contested local government elections in decades.

Free A Political Election Broadcast (PEB) is a free, regulated slot that allows political parties and independent candidates to deliver their campaign messages directly to the public.“This allocation represents an important step towards ensuring equitable access to broadcasting platforms during the election period,” Icasa said.
