I want to build Africa’s largest army of female photographers — Anicho Stella

The documentary photographer, visual storyteller, creative educator, and social impact advocate whose work intersects visual storytelling, women’s empowerment, gender inclusion, leadership, governance, cultural documentation, and community development uses photography as a tool for documentation, advocacy, representation, education, and social change, with a particular focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and preserving stories that shape communities.

In a general overview of her activities, Anicho opens up that “Since January 2026, when I founded Her Bold Tribe (HBT), a women-centered social impact initiative to mentor and empower women and girls in leadership and community based interventions, I have not looked back employing my tool of immense advantage; photography and storytelling to push for a better space for the girl child in a world that does not seem to have a room for such.

I am currently developing a Guinness World Record attempt for the Largest Female Photowalk, an initiative aimed at increasing the visibility, participation, and representation of women in photography and visual storytelling.
