Heavy rainfall destroys over 20 homes, farmlands in Plateau community
By Golok Nanmwa JOS — Torrential rainfall has destroyed more than 20 houses and farmlands in Darwat-Jol community, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, leaving several families displaced.
The heavy downpour, which occurred on Saturday afternoon, triggered severe flooding that swept through parts of the community, causing residents to lose homes, food supplies and other household belongings.
According to him, the flooding overwhelmed the community’s inadequate drainage system, resulting in the collapse of several buildings, particularly houses constructed with mud and thatch.
