Ekurhuleni on high alert as cold snap, storms grip Gauteng

The City of Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) has placed its crews on high alert as severe thunderstorms, icy winds and plunging temperatures grip Gauteng, with a weather warning issued by the South African Weather Service (Saws).

High alert Ekurhuleni’s Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson William Ntladi said the city’s team remains on high alert.

Vereeniging is expected to be freezing at 0°C with a high of 5°C, while Pretoria will see the mercury dip to a minimum of 3°C and a high of 7°C.
