
Egypt launches Saqqara site development project to enhance visitor experience
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities launched on Saturday, July 18, 2026, a comprehensive project to upgrade internal roads and enhance or services at the Saqqara archaeological site, one of the country’s most important cultural heritage destinations.
He added that the project will help strengthen Saqqara’s position as one of the world’s leading archaeological and tourism destinations, while supporting efforts to protect and sustainably develop Egypt’s cultural heritage.
Director General of the Saqqara Archaeological Area, Amr al-Tayeb, said the project also includes a comprehensive package of service upgrades, including the installation of seating areas, the construction of shaded areas at key points to protect ors from direct sunlight, and the improvement of various facilities.
