Ebonyi CSOs threaten legal action against EEDC over alleged overbilling, disconnections

By Jeff Agbodo, Abakaliki A coalition of civil society organisations in Ebonyi State has threatened legal action against the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) over alleged illegal billing practices, indiscriminate disconnections and other complaints by electricity consumers.

He said the decision to seek judicial intervention followed the failure of several petitions and mediation efforts submitted to the EEDC Ebonyi District office, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and the Ebonyi State Ministry of Justice to resolve the complaints.

Joseph Agbo, alleged that electricity consumers in the state had suffered years of overbilling, arbitrary disconnections and other irregularities.
