The probe follows a complaint by Nairobi Water employee Hesbond Nyamagwa, who alleges that money deducted on behalf of the Kenya County Government Workers Union (KCGWU) was never remitted to the Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu ) as required by law, but was instead misappropriated.

Subsequently, public funds appear to have been used to settle the outstanding liability after officials of the Kenya County Government Workers Union spent the money for personal use rather than the intended purposes," part of the complaint reads.

According to the minutes, Nairobi Water committed to settling the outstanding amount of more than Sh17 million after it emerged that the funds had allegedly been misappropriated by union officials.
