“It is thus in the interest of justice and in compliance with Kenya’s international obligations, that the warrant of arrest issued against the Respondent be endorsed, and an order for the Respondent’s surrender, return and conveyance to Uganda be issued in order to face trial in Uganda since he will suffer no prejudice at all,” the application filed before a Milimani court stated.
The court heard that Chen was employed by Diamond Steel Uganda Limited as a cashier and administrator from February 2019 until August 2023.
The court documents said Chen was also appointed as the company’s authorised agent in respect of its Uganda Shillings and United States Dollar accounts at Opportunity Bank, and his duties included handling cash withdrawals, obtaining bank statements, processing payments to suppliers, making purchases of raw materials, meeting operational expenses and collecting proceeds from some daily sales.
