Del Monte Kenya Limited has lost its attempt to stop a claim seeking nearly Sh975 million in legal costs after the Environment and Land Court in Murang'a ruled that there was no reason to halt the process.

Justice Gicheru further ruled that Del Monte had moved to court too early because the law provides a procedure for challenging the amount of legal costs after it has been assessed.

Del Monte appealed the decision at the Court of Appeal in Nyeri, including the order requiring it to pay the legal costs.
