Charges dropped: Police say Khumalo to refocus on crime battle

The South African Police Service (Saps) said it is confident that the withdrawal of charges against seven senior Crime Intelligence officials, including the divisional head, General Dumisani Khumalo, and his co-accused, will allow the senior officers to refocus fully on their mandate to prevent and combat crime.“As Divisional Commissioner of Crime Intelligence and Project Manager of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT), Lieutenant General Khumalo will continue to focus on strengthening intelligence-driven operations, dismantling highly organised criminal networks, disrupting criminal syndicates and ensuring that actionable intelligence supports targeted police operations.”Crime fighting Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the Acting National Commissioner of the Saps, Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane, welcomed the withdrawal of charges.
