
Chan millions: Ex-PS Peter Kaberia among six arrested Sports 21 min ago
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested six suspects, including former Sports Principal Secretary Ambassador Peter Kirimi Kaberia, over alleged misappropriation of Sh330 million meant for Kenya's preparations to host the 2018 Africa Nations Championship (Chan) According to the anti-graft body, the suspects were arrested over the alleged irregular award and payment of a contract for the supply and installation of security, access control, communications, audio-visual and pitch lighting systems at various stadia in Kenya for Chan."EACC investigations established that an advance payment of approximately Sh330 million was made to the company under a contract that was not procured in accordance with the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act, 2015," the commission said.
EACC stated that despite being not being procured, the company failed to fulfil its contractual obligations, resulting in the loss of Sh330 million in public funds.
