ASUU GSU threatens indefinite strike over unpaid allowances, wage arrears
By Ben Ngwakwe, Gombe GOMBE: The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Gombe State University (GSU) Branch, has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Gombe State Government to resolve its outstanding demands or face a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike.
He said the union’s grievances included the non-implementation of the 2025 agreement between ASUU and the Federal Government, as well as outstanding wage and allowance arrears owed academic staff.
He explained that the branch issued the ultimatum in compliance with the resolution of the union’s NEC, adding that members had been directed to commence a total, comprehensive and indefinite industrial action upon the expiration of the 14-day period if the outstanding issues remained unresolved.
