
Army rescues 33 kidnapped passengers in Zamfara
By Idris Salisu, Gusau GUSAU — Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, JTF NW OPFY, have rescued 33 passengers reportedly abducted by terrorists in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The passengers were rescued following a swift response to credible information about the abduction of commuters, according to the Media Information Officer, JTF North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
Danja said troops of JTF NW OPFY, in conjunction with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force deployed in Tsafe, received information in the late afternoon of August 8, 2026, that terrorists had abducted passengers travelling through the Magazu area of Tsafe Local Government Area.
