After Mr Adeleke won the 2022 governorship election, the then outgoing governor, Gboyega Oyetola, conducted the local government elections, with his party, the APC, sweeping the poll.

Osogbo was also Mr Aregbesola’s highest-voting local government area in that election, underscoring the electoral importance of the state capital.
