Amref Health Africa and Health Care Without Harm have signed a partnership to raise money for climate-resilient, low-carbon healthcare across Africa, with the aim of getting funding to clinics and community health workers rather than leaving it in national budgets and policy documents.

The agreement commits the two organisations to mobilise funding, support local research and scale up climate-smart health care across the continent.

The partnership will focus on four things: assessing the climate vulnerability and carbon footprint of health systems, designing climate-smart health facilities, training health workers, local leaders and policy advocates, and documenting successful African models so they can be scaled county by county instead of reinvented.
