Abia announces dates for tertiary education sports fiesta

” See full press statement below: PRESS STATEMENT ABIA TERTIARY EDUCATION SPORTS FIESTA 2026: The Central Organising Committee ANNOUNCES NOVEMBER 3–6 FOR A FIVE-DAY CELEBRATION OF TALENT, UNITY AND SPORTING EXCELLENCE Umuahia, Abia State, 1st September 2026 At the end of the meeting of the enlarged Central Organising Committee and the Directors of Sports of participating institutions, the Central Organising Committee (COC) of the Abia State Tertiary Education Sports Fiesta (ASTESF) 2026 announced November 3–6, 2026, as the official dates for the much-anticipated four-day sporting fiesta.

The Central Organising Committee appreciates the support of His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Professor Uche Eme-Uche the Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Sir Nwaobilor N Ananaba, the Government of Abia State, and all participating institutions and stakeholders, and calls on the people of Abia to look forward to what promises to be a vibrant celebration of youth, talent, friendship, and sporting excellence.“The 2026 edition is expected to bring together tertiary institutions owned and operated by the Federal Government, the Abia State Government, and private proprietors, creating a unique platform for students and young athletes from across the State to compete, connect, showcase their talents, and celebrate the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and excellence,” the statement said.
