Ghana Armed Forces investigates killing of its officer at Kasoa

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that it has begun investigations Lance Corporal Danso Michael.

In a statement confirming the death of the soldier, GAF said its preliminary investigations indicate that one of the officers who was attacked, Lance Corporal Omar Abdul Rahman owned a half plot of land which was in dispute at the Millennium City in Kasoa.

GAF said Omar Abdul Rahman received information on Tuesday, April 30 that some men were working on the half plot of land which was in dispute.

Accompanied by two of his colleagues, Lance Corporal Danso Michael (the deceased) and Lance Corporal Ametus Matthew, they visited the land and confirmed the information upon which they subsequently stopped the men from working on the land.

The statement continued that the officers proceeded to the Kasoa Millennium City police station to report the issue only to be confronted by Benlord Ababio, the acclaimed owner of the land and two others believed to be land guards.

“…in an unprovoked circumstance, the soldier was attacked and killed by one Benlord Ababio, an alleged land guard,” parts of the statement read.

GAF further commiserated with the deceased’s family, colleagues, friends and loved ones and said it will closely collaborate with the Ghana Police Service to conduct further investigations into the matter.

Meanwhile, the police has arrested one suspect, Benlord Ababio in connection with the death of the soldier.
