They have made us proud – Ghana FA backs Dreams FC ahead of Zamalek clash

Henry Asante Twum, the Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has voiced his support for CAF Confederations Cup semifinalists Dreams FC.

He believes that their performance in the competition thus far instills confidence ahead of their crucial semi-final encounter with Egyptian powerhouse Zamalek FC.

In an exclusive interview with Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Twum affirmed the FA’s backing for Dreams FC as they prepare to face Zamalek in the semi-finals.

He emphasised that Dreams’ impressive display has convinced football enthusiasts in the country of their capability to take on Zamalek, warranting the nation’s support.

Twum stated, “Dreams FC has made us proud, and the FA will support them as they face Zamalek in order to reach the finals; what they have done so far indicates that they can do it this time.”

Dreams FC havehas exceeded expectations by advancing to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup in their debut season, notably defeating Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate.

Their upcoming clash against Zamalek, a club with an illustrious continental history, presents a significant challenge.

Zamalek boasts five CAF Champions League titles, one Confederation Cup title, and four CAF Super Cup titles to their name.

The Ghana FA Cup champions will however not be perturbed by the pedigree of their opponents given the surprise they have sparked throughout the competition.

Emerging as the first Ghanaian side to reach this stage of the competition since Kotoko and Hearts of Oak did in 2004, Karim Zito’s boys are eager to extend their record.
