Learn to align, the decision won't change - Cadres tell Muntaka, others

Members of the Cadres For Accountable Leadership (CAL) of the (NDC) have asked persons who have been affected by the changes to the Minority leadership to adjust to the new arrangement announced by the national leadership of the NDC.

The Cadres noted that for all intents and purposes, the changes announced by the party headquarters will never change.

The NDC has changed Haurunba Iddrisu as the Minority Leader and replaced him with Ato Forson.

Muntaka Mubarak and James Kluste Avedzi have also been removed as MMinoroty Chief Whip and Deputy Minority Leader respectively.

The appointment has divided the front of the Minority in Parliament.

For instance, Zebilla East Member of Parliament Cleruc Avoka said the Speaker of Parliament has not informed the Minority caucus and the entire House of any changes made to the leadership of the Minority therefore, Haruna Iddrisu and the other leaders of the opposition lawmakers who were removed still remain at pos.

Addressing a press conference in Parliament on Thursday, January 26, he said “For us there is no reshuffle yet, the Speaker has not communicated to us.”

Muntaka Mubarak who is also lawmaker for Asawase asked the NDC to sit up.

He is unhappy with the changes that have been made to the leadership of the Minority by the party.

He believes that the decision was made by a few executives although the statement announcing it was signed by the General Secretary Fifi Kwetey.

“If you cannot write a letter to appoint, how can you write to disappoint?” He asked at the press conference.

He added “We don’t want to create enmity among us unnecessarily, we believe that the right process should be followed.”

He further stated if “the right process is followed we will be happy and thank them for the opportunity to serve.

We hope that they will help fast-track the hearing of the issues.”

But in a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Livingstone Pay-Charlie, the Cadres For Accountable Leadership said “We understand fully the concerns of some party members that exhaustive consultations were not done prior to the public announcement of the changes.

We, therefore, join them in deploring this misstep from the NDC Headquarters and appeal for things to be streamlined to forestall future occurrences.

“It is however nauseating to see a few disgruntled parliamentary members of the NDC ‘mutinous regiment’ trying to dislodge the Party Headquarters decision which has been explained to be a step towards capturing power in 2024.

“The case has always been that the National Headquarters of the party always determined or showed pointers as to how NDC’s front bench in Parliament should be constituted.

How come the party headquarters is taking the same action today and people affected are all of a sudden jumping all over the place!

The legal equitable doctrine of election where you cannot approbate and reprobate must occupy their medulla oblongata.

“We have assembled dossiers of underhand dealings by some of the agitators MPs and surveillance materials of despicable conducts of some NDC members of Parliament which have let the party down at certain critical times.

The simple advice is that the noises must cease so that we direct all efforts to sack the failed Akufo-Addo NPP government from power.

“For all intents and purposes, the changes announced by the party headquarters will never change.
