Celebrated Ghanaian Writer, Professor Ama Ata Aidoo Is Dead

Celebrated Ghanaian author and playwright, Professor Ama Ata Aidoo, is dead.

According to them, Professor Aidoo died following a short illness.

AMA ATA AIDOO, with deep sorrow but in the hope of the resurrection, informs the general public that our beloved relative and writer passed away in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, 31st May 2023, after a short illness,” the family said in a statement.

Professor Ama Ata Aidoo is celebrated for her profound impact on generations of African women writers.

Known in private life as Christina Ama Ata Aidoo, she was born on March 23, 1942, in Abeadzi Kyiakor, near Saltpond, in Ghana’s Central Region.
