Western Regional police command begins manhunt for CID who aided kidnapper

The Western regional police command has set up a committee to unravel the circumstances under which an unidentified officer with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) aided the cell break of a Nigerian kidnapper.
On the back of that, the police launched an internal inquiry into the incident.
DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, the Public Relations Officer of the Western regional command speaking in an interview with Joy FM on Tuesday, February 12 2019, said the regional commander had constituted a team to look into the allegation raised.

“The regional commander has constituted a team and immediately, they need to investigate all those at the station because as of now, we don’t know exactly which CID personnel aided [the suspect]. So, those who were on duty, all the CID people there are going to be questioned,” she said.
The suspected Nigerian kidnapper, Sam Udoetuk Wills, currently under investigation for allegedly kidnapping three girls in the Western Region that aside his two friends, an officer of the from police custody.

He told the court on Monday, February 11, 2019, that his friends whose names he gave as Kwesi and John, also aided his escape.
Wills escaped from lawful custody at the Takoradi Central Police Command on December 30, 2018, after he was arrested for allegedly kidnapping some girls.
He was later re-arrested in Nkroful near Takoradi.
