WAEC releases provisional results of 2019 BECE

- The West African Examination Council has released provisional results of the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE)

- A total of 517,331 candidates took part in the examination nationwide

- According to WAEC 173 candidates had their subject results cancelled for bringing foreign material into the examination hall

The provisional results of 517,331 candidates who sat the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been releases by the West African Examinations Council .

According to a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC,Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, the results will be disseminated to various schools across the country through the directors of education.

The Council also said the results are online and candidates can access them now.

Meanwhile the Council has hosted the results online and candidates who so desire, may access their results at the Council’s website,” the statement added.

In all 263,602 males and 253,729 females sat for the examination.

This figure is 1.47% higher than that of the previous year. The candidates were from a total of 16,871 schools and the examination was administered at 1800 centres.

Meanwhile, WAEC says it cancelled the results of 173 candidates for examination malpractice.

2497 subject results have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into alleged examination malpractice. The withheld subject results will either be released or cancelled as soon as the Council concludes its investigations,” the WAEC statement noted.

The Council further expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for the contribution and efforts which has seen the successful conduct of the examination and the timely release of results.
