- The video sought to create the impression that a Ghanaian, Ruth Akua Aguure, was neglected by the Commission when she went to it for help
- The Commission stated that Ghanaians who travel abroad should ensure that they have adequate funds for their upkeep
Ghana’s High Commission in the United Kingdom (UK) has released a statement about the case of the visually impaired Ghanaian who was allegedly neglected there.
YEN.com.gh understands that Ruth Akua Aguure was stranded after she paid a visit to the UK to mobilize resources for a project.
The visit was intended to raise funds for a building project for the Wa Methodist School for the Blind.
Aguure reportedly traveled on an Air Maroc flight to the UK and was expected back in the country on Sunday, August 25, 2019.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to UK, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, disclosed that she however came back on Sunday, August 11, 2019, with assistance from his office.
His revelation, per a report by 3news.com, followed the release of a viral video that she has been neglected and was therefore stranded.
The video, per information available, sought to create the impression that she was turned away when she asked for help from the Commission.
The High Commission has therefore stated that the perception is false and Aguure has been provided with the needed assistance.
It again advised Ghanaians to ensure that they have adequate resources for their upkeep when the travel, so that they can cater for themselves during their stay outside Ghana.
