Stephen Appiah, former captain of Ghana's senior national football, the Black Stars has finally buried his late mother.
The burial of the late Comfort Afua Amotey Aidoo came off after a burial ceremony at the John Wesley Methodist Church at Palladium in Accra on the morning of Friday, March 15.
Madam Aidoo's final funeral rites followed immediately after her burial at the Abandze Royal Cemetery.
In a video from the funeral sighted by YEN.com.gh, many of Stephen Appiah's playing colleagues and other leading football stars were spotted at the grounds as they mourned with the former Fernabache midfielder
Among the star-studded mourners were Black Stars coach, Kwasi Appiah, former defenders John Paintsil and Sam Johnson, and former striker Augustine Arhinful.
The former Black Stars captain's mother died on Saturday, December 22, 2018, just two days to his birthday.
A heartbroken Appiah who took to eulogize his mother wondered why she had to leave him just days to his birthday.
"Today is my birthday and I should be celebrating but instead I'm mourning. Mourning the very person who gives me so much love and joy. For I always see 24th December as a day to celebrate you instead of me because you made it possible. This day was never complete without me showing you how much I love and appreciate all you have done for me. "There was no birthday without the kiss on your cheeks. Why you chose to leave me the same week I celebrate my birthday is what I'm struggling to understand," he wrote on his birthday.
Madam Aidoo was 73 years old.
