AFCON 2023: “We’ve made over USD 80 million”, says CAF president Dr Patrice Motsepe

The football, the organisation, the supporters, the cultural display and the attention the tournament had were the best the continent has ever had.

The competition was watched across the world with keen attention with every viewer having his fair share of the enthusiasm.

African football was the winner at the end of the tournament as great skills, goals and competition were exhibited.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe in an interview with France 24 revealed the financial benefit the CAF received after the tournament.

“The AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire has been the most profitable ever.

So we’ve jumped to USD 80 million, and a huge chunk of that money is going to the 54 countries for football development,” said the honourable CAF president Patrice Motsepe.

The CAF president says they are investing a huge part of the profit into football development across all the 54 member states of CAF.

This comes as refreshing news to African foot as 90% of African nations have been lacking the funds to develop their football.

CAF expects a huge chunk of profit in the next AFCON to be hosted in Morocco.
