South African number one goalkeeper Rowen Williams has renewed his contract with Mamelodi Sundowns until 2028.

On the club’s official website, the Masandawana wrote “Mamelodi Sundowns is proud to announce that they have agreed on a four-year contract extension with a one-year option that will see Goalkeeper and Bafana Bafana Captain Ronwen Williams remain at Chloorkop until at least 2028.

“The goalkeeper, who joined the club in 2022, has been a mainstay between the posts since his arrival, helping the club win the DStv Premiership, the African Football League (AFL) and qualify for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.”

Williams is one of the best goalkeepers on the African continent.

He joined Mamelodi Sundowns after ten seasons with Supersport United in the 2022-23 season and has helped the Brazilians win two PSL titles and the African Football League among many other competitions.

After extending his contract until 2028 summer, the great goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, expressed his excitement to the Sundowns fraternity.

“I’m over the moon, it just shows the belief that the club has in me, it shows the value that I’ve brought to the club.

There is so much that we can achieve as a team & I’m looking forward to it with lots of excitement.

“It was an easy decision for me, I’ve been happy since day one.

The club has helped me grow as a football player and as a person, so it was a no-brainer for me [to extend],” said Williams.
