English-born Ghanaian youngster Josh Kofi Acheampong makes his Chelsea debut against Tottenham Hotspur

Joshua Kofi Acheampong, 17, made his Chelsea debut on Thursday night at the Stamford Bridge in Chelsea’s 2-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur.

The right-back who can also play as a right-wing back and a centre-back was earlier on named by Mauricio Pochettino in Chelsea’s injury-hit squad ahead of the Spurs clash.

In March, Kofi Acheampong appeared on Chelsea’s bench against Newcastle United and Burnley in the Premier League before earning a call-up to the squad against Leicester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal.

He was also named in the travelling Blues setup which faced Aston Villa at the weekend.

He was yet to make his senior debut for the Blues even though he had been on the bench more than three times.

On Thursday night, Josh Kofi Acheampong replaced the 20-year-old Alfie Gilchrist in the 85th minute.

Acheampong has represented England at youth level.

In the 2023 Euro U-17 and the FIFA U-17 World Cup, Josh Acheampong was part of the English squad for the two tournaments.
