Ibrahim Tanko lauds Accra Lions players after historic win over Hearts of Oak

In a historic match, Accra Lions’ head coach, Ibrahim Tanko, expressed his admiration for his players’ outstanding performance in their 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak on Wednesday afternoon. 

The capital-based club secured the win at the Accra Sports Stadium during a Week 28 clash of the Ghana Premier League season, marking the first time they’ve triumphed over the Ghanaian giants in any competitive encounter. 

Speaking to StarTimes after the game, Coach Ibrahim Tanko praised his team’s impressive display, attributing the success to their determination and skill on the field. 

“The boys did well from the first half,” he remarked. 

“Before the game, I said there is always a first time, and the way we are playing this season, definitely, we can beat any team.

So, I congratulate the boys.” 

Tanko also acknowledged the challenges of the Premier League but emphasized the team’s resilience and progress this season. 

“The premier league is not easy when playing away but I think this year, the boys are doing well and I commend them,” coach Ibrahim Tanko said.

With this significant victory, Accra Lions have risen to third place on the Ghana Premier League table, further solidifying their position in the league standings.
