Henry Asante Twum: New national team coaches chosen based on performance record

The Ghana Football Association, represented by its Director of Communications, Henry Asante Twum, emphasizes that the selection of coaches for national teams is solely based on their past performance.

Recent appointments made by the association cover both new and existing male and female national teams, including former Ghanaian international player Godwin Attram.

In an interview with CitiSports, Henry Asante Twum shed light on the meticulous process of evaluating potential coaches.

He explained, “We consider their contributions to the sport and their career paths post-retirement.

Asamoah Gyan, having completed his license B course, is also seen as a potential candidate for future opportunities.

Twum further elaborated, “When there’s a need for recruitment, the executive council reviews their CVs, assesses their individual achievements, evaluates their contributions to the sport, and determines the best fit for them.”

This process ensures that coaches are selected based on their merit and suitability for the role.

The inclusion of former players like Attram reflects the association’s commitment to tapping into the wealth of experience within the Ghanaian football community.

The Ghana Football Association aims to provide opportunities for individuals who have demonstrated dedication and passion for the sport, both during their playing careers and afterward.
