Ghana Premier League Week 28: Medeama share spoils with Asante Kotoko in Tarkwa

Premier League defending champions Medeama and Asante Kotoko clashed in matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa.

Despite playing at home, Medeama couldn’t capitalize on their advantage as the match concluded in a tightly contested draw.

The Porcupine Warriors took an early lead courtesy of Uganda international Steven Mukwala, who found the back of the net just 22 minutes into the crucial encounter.

This gave the visitors an early advantage heading into halftime.

However, Medeama showcased their resilience in the second half, equalizing through former Ghana Premier League top scorer Diawisie Taylor.

Taylor converted a penalty in the 56th minute to level the score for the hosts in the crucial clash.

With no further goals scored, the game ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams settling for a point each in Tarkwa.

Asante Kotoko had hoped to secure maximum points to improve their position on the Ghana Premier League table.

However, Medeama proved to be formidable opponents, forcing the visitors to settle for a stalemate.

The draw means that Medeama was unable to bounce back from their previous defeat against Berekum Chelsea.

Despite their aspirations for victory, Asante Kotoko couldn’t achieve their desired outcome in the crucial encounter.

With 40 points, the reigning Ghana Premier League champions currently occupy the 7th position in the league standings after 27 matches played in the campaign.

On the other hand, Asante Kotoko finds themselves in the 11th position on the table, having accumulated 37 points from 27 matches so far this season.
