Ghana Premier League Week 28: Heart of Lions draw in Bechem to boost survival hopes

Heart of Lions saw their hopes of avoiding relegation receive a significant boost with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park during match week 28 of the Ghana Premier League.

For coach Bashir Hayford’s team, the single point gained could be crucial as they now sit just two points away from safety in the league standings.

Heart of Lions remains in the 17th position, still second from the bottom, despite the encouraging result, having accumulated 29 points from 28 matches played.

Meanwhile, Bechem United’s aspirations of finishing in the top four took a hit as they failed to secure a victory at home, leaving them with 40 points and just one point behind Nsoatreman, who currently occupy the fourth spot.

Heart of Lions surprised the home crowd by taking an early lead in the ninth minute through Emmanuel Ofori Sakyi, showing their determination to fight for survival.

However, Bechem United managed to level the score in the dying moments of the first half, as Francis Acquah found the back of the net in the second minute of added time.

Despite both teams pushing for a winning goal in the second half, the match ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
