Jordan Ayew grabs seventh assist of the season in Crystal Palace’s vital win over Newcastle

Crystal Palace soared to a commanding 2-0 triumph over Newcastle United at Selhurst Park, with Jordan Ayew showcasing his prowess by delivering his seventh assist of the campaign.

In a seamless display of teamwork, Ayew orchestrated the opener by setting up Jean-Philippe Mateta with a deft one-two pass, leading to a goal ten minutes into the second half.

Returning to the starting lineup following a cameo appearance in the previous match against West Ham, Ayew formed a formidable partnership upfront with Mateta, contributing both offensively and defensively to secure the home team’s victory.

The 32-year-old forward’s relentless efforts were instrumental in Palace’s success, culminating in Mateta doubling the lead with two minutes remaining, courtesy of an assist from Will Hughes.

Ayew, who made 11 goal contributions this season with four goals and seven assists, was substituted for Michael Olise with 17 minutes left, while compatriot Jeffrey Schlupp joined the fray in the final seven minutes, replacing Eberechi Eze.
