Ogum guides Asante Kotoko to record worst-ever league season performance in club’s history

Asante Kotoko’s troubles reached a new low as they faced a historic defeat against Dreams FC at the Theater of Dreams in Dawu, solidifying their status with the worst performance in a single Ghana Premier League season.

The Porcupine Warriors endured a crushing 2-0 loss to the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finalists in the Week 26 showdown of the 2023/24 campaign.

This defeat not only marked their 11th loss of the season but also surpassed their previous record for most defeats in a single campaign since the club’s inception in 1935.

Before this season, Asante Kotoko’s darkest seasons were in 2000 and 2006 when they suffered 10 losses each, resulting in 5th and 3rd place finishes, respectively.

Following this latest setback, Asante Kotoko now finds themselves mired in 11th place in the Ghana Premier League standings, with just 8 games left in the season.

Furthermore, their winless streak extends to 7 matches, cementing their position as the worst-performing side in the second round of the Ghana Premier League.
