“It’s been tough being injured for a long time” – Thomas Partey

Arsenal’s midfield maestro, Thomas Partey, delves into the hurdles he faced during a lengthy injury layoff lasting nearly five months, as he inches closer to full fitness.

Partey, a pivotal player for both Arsenal and the Ghanaian national team, endured a frustrating period marked by limited appearances, featuring in just six Premier League matches for the Gunners this season, with two as a substitute post-injury.

His absence due to injury proved impactful, causing him to miss critical matches for both club and country, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.

However, the Ghanaian midfielder marked his comeback with a brief cameo in Arsenal’s commanding 6-0 away triumph over Sheffield United, followed by another substitute appearance against Brentford.

Partey candidly shared his rehabilitation journey, expressing his readiness to contribute to the team’s success, stating, “It’s been tough for me, being injured for a long time, but now I am ready to give everything I can to the team.

Anything I can add to our level, I will do.”

Highlighting his commitment to regaining peak fitness and positively impacting Arsenal’s campaign, Partey added, “I worked hard during my rehab to be able to come back to the level I need to be at.

Now I want to get back with the team,” he added.

With Arsenal currently sitting atop the Premier League table after 28 games, level on points with Liverpool, Partey’s imminent return to full fitness bolsters Mikel Arteta’s squad as they prepare for a pivotal clash against Manchester City this weekend.

Reflecting on last season’s near-misses, particularly in the latter stages, Partey stressed the importance of maintaining focus and resilience to avoid a repeat scenario.

“Last year we did so well, and came very close to what we wanted to achieve.

This year we have lots of big players and I know we are capable of doing big things,” he stated.

As Arsenal braces for the challenges that lie ahead, Partey’s determination to make a significant impact serves as a promising indicator for the team’s ambitions in the remainder of the season.
